The MANAH (Maternal, Antenatal, Nutrition, and Adolescent Health) Outreach Project was initiated to address the barriers faced by rural adolescent girls and women in Lupane in accessing comprehensive maternal and health services.
According to the WHO Trends in Maternal Mortality 2000–2020 report, approximately 800 women died daily in 2020 from preventable causes related to pregnancy and childbirth. Similarly, the United Nations Population Fund Zimbabwe highlights that complications during pregnancy and childbirth remain leading causes of death and disability among women of reproductive age.
Service Areas:
Week 1: Bulawayo (City)
Week 2: Lupane District (Rural Area)
We aim to provide education, resources, and supplies to adolescent girls and women of reproductive age (15–49 years) before, during, and after pregnancy. Activities will include:
Maternal, antenatal, nutrition, and menstrual hygiene education.
Distribution of affordable, reusable menstrual products by Spring 2025.
By merging new practices with traditional knowledge, we seek to empower Lupane women and restore their maternal and antenatal health capabilities. This effort will leave a sustained legacy of empathetic, empowered, and effective health and hygiene behaviors in the community. We believe every stage of womanhood should be a positive experience, ensuring women and their babies achieve their full potential for health and well-being.
Project Facilitators
We are partnering with Whole Woman Movement, a grassroots network of young activists focusing on underserved communities in Zimbabwe's urban slums, remote rural areas, and high-risk zones.
We are also collaborating with The Baby Bond: Birth & Beyond, a global service brand committed to promoting sustainable development goals to reduce maternal and infant mortality rates. They advocate for perinatal health equity and empower communities to embrace the value of local philanthropy giving through The Bonding Experience Perinatal Wellness Center 501 (c)(3) nonprofit.
Join us in making a lasting impact!
